me & my ROCKSTAR baby girl, jane, doin' one of our most favorite things, yee ha!!!=)~~~i've listed all of the players & singers on the liner notes of the album, but, here's where i thought it would be fun to let y'all know who's on each track & what was played...sam gay ~ my amazin' renaissance cowboy played every single instrument on this one, he's da bomb y'all, i'm a lucky, lucky cowgirl=) and of course that's his beauty~full voice singin' harmony with me=)it's dreamin' big and workin hard and havin' faith
makin' sure you make the most of every breath you take
and knowin' that today ain't just another day goin' by
it's livin every moment in the here and now
knowin'that there's blue skies back behind the clouds
and never sayin' never `cause that just ain't how you ride
that's life on planet cowgirl
and i'm gratefull every day
that i get to call it my world
`cause there ain't no better place
for fearlessly flyin' and whole-hearted divin' in
i'm lovin' livin' this life
on planet cowgirlit's standin up for what you know is right and true
even if you're shakin' in your cowboy boots
sayin' bring on that horizon, shootin' for the moon and stars
it's headin' down the trail less traveled even though
it might be a long and windin' rocky road
you ain't scared at all `cause deep inside you know your heart
that's life on planet cowgirl
and i'm grateful every day
that i get to call it my world
`cause there ain't no better place
for fearlessly flyin' and whole-hearted divin' in
i'm lovin' livin' this life
on planet cowgirlit's runnin wide open
with the sun and the wind in your mane
and it's takin' it all in
knowin' you've got it made in the shade
hay, hay
that's life on planet cowgirl
and i'm grateful every day
that i get to call it my world
`cause there ain't no better place
for fearlessly flyin' and whole-hearted divin' in
i'm lovin' livin' this life
on planet cowgirlit's dreamin' big and workin' hard and havin' faith

i miss the girltt/sam/porter
me & anna about what feels like forever ago in virginia=) my anna banana, boy, she was awesome, she taught me so much & she's always with me=)
my man sam played EVERYTHING, i'm doin' my own harmony on this onepeaceful
layin' back and countin' stars
sure that there was one up there for me
and dreamin'
without a doubt that they'd come true
back then it seemed so easy to believe
when everything was right there for the takin'
back before it got so complicated
i miss the girl i used to be
on top of the world and fancy free
a lazy summer day was all she needed
that fearless heart that used to laugh
and love with everything she had
when faith and hope and trust were just like breathin'
i love the woman i've turned out to be
but sometimes, sometimes
i miss the girl
grateful
for everything that's come my way
and if i had the chance i wouldn't change a thing
but there's moments
when it all gets to be too much
and i miss the innocence of seventeen
when everything was right there for the takin'
back before it got so complicated
i miss the girl i used to be
on top of the world and fancy free
a lazy summer day was all she needed
(i miss the girl)
that fearless heart that used to laugh
and love with everything she had
when faith and hope and trust were just like breathin'
i love the woman i've turned out to be
but sometimes, sometimes
i miss the girl
she lived everyday so free and easy
i wonder what she'd say if she could see me
(i miss the girl)
i miss the girl i used to be
on top of the world and fancy free
a lazy summer day was all she needed
(i miss the girl)
yeah that fearless heart that used to laugh
and love with everything she had
when faith and hope and trust were just like breathin'
yeah i love the woman i've turned out to be
but sometimes, sometimes
i miss the girl

when i get that pony rodett/ sg/ m. jason greene
i was so proud of my girl at this buck brannaman clinic in alabama last year, she's somethin,' my ROCKSTAR, what can i say, she's always teachin' me somethin,' i just have to stay out of her way, like buck says, "it takes the time it takes"=) this song was inspired by me readin' buck & bill reynold's book, the faraway horses, buck talks about "the consequences of a fast turn" & it's funny what can turn into a tune, sam had this title & the song practically fell out the day we wrote with our buddy jason=) the second photo is me (on patti's boy lancer) & buck on his boy stedman & patti hall (co-writer on happy house & why i'm blessed to know the bb cowboy=)

cliff ~ b-3, electric piano face down in the dirt
every inch of me hurts
guess it wasn't such a perfect landin'
yeah i'm still alive
not sure how i survived
it was a hell of a ride `til it ended
i guess that's what you get when you leap
you don't always end up on your feet
oh there's easier ways i could go
oh but deep down inside me i know
yeah i'll really have somethin' to show
when i get that pony rode
every now and again
i get myself in a spin
face the true consequence of a fast turn
every up every down
every single go round
every fall i have found makes me stronger
so i'll knock all the dust off and then
i'll get back in the saddle again
oh there's easier ways i could go
oh but deep down inside me i know
yeah i'll really have somethin' to show
when i get that pony rode
i guess that's what you get when you leap
you don't always wind up on your feet
oh yeah there's easier ways i could go
oh but deep down inside me i know
yeah i'll really have somethin' to show
when i get that pony rode

but i've made peace
with my less than picture perfect history
and it's pointless
placin' blame
see the past is stubborn it ain't gonna change
it took goin' there to get here and that's okay
i'm stronger in the broken places
and wiser for the roads i went down
better for the bruises and the pain
i couldn't see it then
but i see it now
what i've learned along the way has made me
stronger in the broken places
i am gratefull
and i am blessed
i'm in the here and now with no regrets
and where the heartache used to be
there's a river of forgiveness runnin' deep
and i know i'm right where i'm s'posed to be
i'm stronger in the broken places
and wiser for the roads i went down
better for the bruises and the pain
i couldn't see it then
but i see it now
what i've learned along the way has made me
stronger in the broken places
where i've hurt and healed
i swear i feel

sam ~ acoustic guitar/ electric guitar/ bass
steve hinson ~ steel guitar
jon putnam ~ bass
butch simmons ~ percussionten miles out of missoula, montana
at some little hole in the wall
a whole world away from mobile, alabama
and i'm feelin' no pain at all
my tear soaked troubles were hung out to dry
back on that old alabama state line
some will go crazy, right out of their mind
some will go straight to the dogs
i've known those who get down and beg on their knees
pleadin' for love that they lost
but i'd rather run than crawl
i'd rather run than crawl
'cause i've got a bed roll and a gypsy in my soul
and a pretty good 'ol pick-up truck
she always keeps me ahead of your mem'ry
as long as i keep her filled up
i pointed myself toward the new mornin' sun
and headed right into great falls
then i doubled back west on state road 21
fightin' the strong urge to call
but i'll drive just as far as my heart needs to go
to get these ol' feelins' to leave me alone
some will go crazy, right out of their mind
some will go straight to the dogs
i've known those who get down and beg on their knees
pleadin' for love that they lost
but i'd rather run than crawl

i'm tired of them old fools
makin' their own rules
time to set the music free
everybody say
yee ha & halleluja
peace, love and rock~n~roll
people more power to ya
feel the groove down to your soul
let the mighty spirit move ya
yee ha & halleluja
ya say you want redemption
i can show you how
you can do your own thing
startin' here and now
you're feelin' like a prisoner
you can break those chains
brothers and sisters
you can make a change
all you sons and daughters
step into the water
wash them sins away

kevin thompson ~ recorded these overdubs at his studio in memphis, tn
prissy ~ background meows=) our happy house
by the river side
where the cottonwoods grow
and the bluebirds fly
there's a rusty old nail
holdin' up a welcome sign
coffee's on
come on by
our happy house
is just sticks and stones
but it's a real good place
to take it slow
just kick on back
and before you know
you'll find yourself
right at home
our happy house
is built on love
filled with dreams
man, that's the stuff
our happy house
got three good dogs
and a scratch on the head
is all they want
there's a lesson there
take it all in stride
life is good
enjoy the ride
our happy house
is built on love
filled with dreams
man, that's the stuff
and everyday
i'm more amazed
how everything
just falls into place
our happy house
by the river side
where the cottonwoods grow
and the bluebirds fly
